Should I take my 2011 Fit to Alaska?

Hi all:

I'm a newbie, but I wanted to get some feedback from other Fit owners, especially if you live in Alaska or areas like it. I am potentially making a long distance move from Missouri to Alaska, and I'm wondering how the Fit would do in the extreme cold. I haven't made any modifications to it since I got it about a year ago, but plan on making it cold-weather ready once I get to AK.

Does anyone have any input on how the Fit handles in extreme cold weather? Temps in Fairbanks in the winter can get as low as -50 degrees, and there is constant snow and ice that becomes the road to drive on. I'm wondering what kinds of modifications would be needed, other than installing a plug for the engine block and getting remote start. Input from Fit friends in cold areas is greatly appreciated!

My Fit has done so well in Missouri, and I love it so much I'm hesitant to get rid of it. But I don't want to completely destroy it in AK, either. Help me out!
