another fit owner reporting in, ready to let my freak flag fly!

last week i picked up an '08 fit sport (gd3), tidewater blue metallic, AT w/ 41,600 miles on her. beatiful, FUN little car! i love it!

thus far i've only slapped in the oem cargo liner and oem all season mats. i'm pinching pennies to save up for the jdm armrest/center console unit because not having an armrest just plain doesn't feel right. and then next up i'd like to get some clazzio seat covers. other than that, i don't think i'm going to do a whole lot in the way of modifications.

this is a dd who's primary use will be commuting in suburban traffic (by suburban i mean not quite the constant stop-n-go of city, but also not the sustained cruising of the highway). as such, i don't really think any performance mods are gonna be practical.

i do have two questions for you fit gurus.

1.) is it common to zap the ever-lovin' you-know-what out of yourself just about every time you get out of your fit? i'm guessing it must be a combination of the seat and carpet fabrics, but man oh man, i am getting static shocks all the time!

2.) my commute to work is a bit hilly, definitely not mountainous terrain or anything, but there are a few ups and downs. my AT seems to be shifting an awful lot. now this is probably nothing, and just a product of the itsy bitsy engine, but i thought i'd ask other fit owners. is it common for a lot of downshifts, even for seemingly minor uphill grades? keep in mind, there is no added weight in the vehicle. it's just me, and i'm a paltry 160 lbs. i'm also trying to baby the throttle as much as possible. nice and slow/smooth starts, no stomping on the gas. i wanna squeeze every last bit of mpg out of this baby as i can!

thanks in advance for any and all help! so glad i found these forums.

Welcome-
Before buying the seat covers, check out the prices/quality of Coverking Neoprene Wetsuit seat covers from Costco. I just installed a set of these myself, and cannot imagine better looking, better comfort, or better quality seat covers.

Welcome. I feel you on the armrest. I hate not having one and right now, the driver seat armrest just isn't cutting it for me.
