By reading the Vehicle Identification Number.

If it starts off JHMGD, then you have a 1st generation GD-chassis Fit.

If it starts off JHMGE, then you have a 2nd generation GE-chassis Fit.

In your case, you'd mostly likely have a 1st gen GD like I do.

What trim level is your Fit?

If its a Base model (LX in Canada I believe) it will need the keyless entry add on/accessory programmed.

VIN should start off like JHMGD384 if you have an auto or JHMGD374 you have a manual if memory serves me right.

Ah I see. More than likely, it should work provided that the keyless entry system in your Fit is a Honda OEM/Accessory one. You'll need to either have a Sport key cut and programmed at the dealer (so it can communicate with the immobilizer system) or have one cut and transfer the immobilizer chip from your keyless entry fob and insert it into the Sport key (not responsible for damages or it not working though).

Just use the search function to see if anyone has done that. If you haven't found any answers, then post up the question.
