Just joined the club

Hi, everyone. I'm a hypermiler who finally bought something that's fuel efficient to begin with, a 2013 Fit Base with a manual. I'm on my first tankful and frankly can't believe the factory mpg gauge- I'm not even hypermiling it yet (trying to get a baseline tank) and I'm at 200 miles showing 39.3 mpg!

I'm loving it and expect to be loving it for years to come. See you all around.

Thanks! I just filled up last night and got 37.1 mpg on my first tank. It's going to be fun getting to know this rig.

i'd like to read a few, I wouldn't call myself a "hypermiler" but I do the speed limit or just under it ALL THE TIME and often see 40+ MPG on long trips and over 35 in town

lower it!! you'll see an increase - I promise! and I know the GE has the little "instant" guage in the speedo, but buy an AM gauge that plugs into the OBDII port, they give way more info and beep at you when you're wasteing energy braking too hard and early or over accelerating it really works and I saw an increase in MPG just by changing my driving style

I've got an UltraGauge, but I figured the "getting to know you" time with a new car is a great time to send it back to get it updated. The OE gauge is pretty accurate, but it doesn't give a big enough picure. I've already aired up the tires and pulled the DRL fuse, next up is disabling the compressor coming on automatically when I put the fan on the windshield.

What benefit do you see from lowering- is it an aero benefit or do tighter springs simply encourage lower speeds? I haven't had mine on a lift yet, but I can't imagine the underside is all that dirty. If I'm really unhappy with it I'll probably just do a belly pan.

I did my first bump start in it this morning and it felt weird. All sorts of things to get used to. Especially the mileage.
