Warning for Fits w/Alloy Wheels

To all new Fit owners with alloy wheels:

Your alloy wheels are highly desired by thieves who use them for civics and for sale. Look this up on Google if you don't believe it:

Why are thieves targeting Honda Fits? - 10News.com KGTV ABC10 San Diego

To prevent theft of your wheels:
  1. Use Gorilla wheel locks and/or
  2. Install a tilt sensor alarm and/or
  3. Install a proximity sensor alarm and/or
  4. Install a motion sensor alarm and/or
  5. Park in closed garage

I'm not sure if our 2013 Fit Sport's factory alloy wheels are desirable, but happily, the previous owner bought Honda wheel locks. I think the wheels look uber cool.

I'm not sure about the older models, but I have a 2015 Fit and the alloy wheels were stolen. After doing some research online, I discovered that the alloy wheels are desirable for street racing cars because of their ability to be used on older Hondas.

For wheel locks, with the help of this forum, I purchased some Gorilla wheel locks to, at least, slow down the thieves.

Did you have wheel locks installed when they were taken?

I have always question why people would steal stock alloy wheels... but I still remember back in the days people would steal Integra GSR or Civic SI wheels. Thanks for raising the awareness, I bought a set of Gorilla wheel locks myself.

I don't know. If I did, I probably had the factory wheel locks.

They don't come standard, so unless they were an added accessory then you probably didn't have them.

Wheel locks can be defeated, but the idea is to discourage the thief to go to an easier target. Like a 2nd gen that's sitting in front of you haha

LOL I know, right? I was so mad when I came out and saw MY wheels were taken, but not the 2nd gen's who was parked right in front of me.

I must have not had wheel locks then. Darn.
