Stolen 16" Alloy Wheels from 2015 Honda Fit EX

Hello,

All four wheels were stolen over the weekend (see photo below). I ordered some Gorilla wheel locks to put in place after I get some new wheels.

In case an attempt is made again, I would like to slow down the thieves even further by installing a tilt alarm. Does anyone know the best and cheapest tilt alarm that I can install myself?

I read that baby walkie-talkies can be used, too. I'm not sure how effective this method is, however.

Any other suggestion is welcomed.

Wow that sucks. Wheel locks are a must, they were one of my first purchases and considered them cheap insurance.

It doesn't help that the less than vigilant, scandal ridden Oakland Police Dept. is on the case.

Too bad there isn't a way to boobytrap the vehicle where the thief cant sue you for your entire life's savings if said trap causes them bodily harm. I've seen tasers built into the drivers seat that shocks you if you try to get in the car. I've even seen people electrify the entire frame as a taser, but that becomes dangerous, ie gas tank. There is also a DIY co2 based pepper spray bomb within the cabin compartment should the door be open. A sticky mount of some kind behind the wheel attached to a cord which if the tire is removed would activate a switch to either release from a hidden nozzle in the wheel wells the paint on bank bags where its near impossible to remove, or better yet release pepper spray.

In the case of wheels, gorilla wheel locks on all 4 lugs with the spinning collars. It will take them a very long time, so long that it thieves simply wont bother. They are a suspicious, lazy, quick result, and cowardly lot. The spinning collar locking nuts the only way I know of to defeat them is to pack the inside with "Quicksteel," let it harden, then perform the oversized socket trick like on traditional locks.

Wheel locks (even Gorilla ones, I have OEM and Gorillas on each wheel) are a deterrent. Give a thief enough time/opportunity, they will steal them. The Fit isn't the most stolen vehicle, but its wheels seem to be a very popular item stolen. My local dealership that the wheels stolen right off their lots by a bunch of "hoods" (aka hoodies) at night.

If all else fails, a game hunting camera that alerts you silently, and use the solution which has been proven to work 100% of the time....the .40 caliber solution!!!!

Oakland Cali.....That's Rough Rough (dog barking sound). I would not step out of my car once the sun goes down in that neighborhood. I have a relative that lives in Alameda...a few steps away...it's so surprising just going down a few blocks how things change...

Best bet, move out the city... just my opinion.. Sorry to hear about your wheels, I had my 92 accord stolen twice just for rims...got it back twice on black steelies though...

Or do like me...get 14s....go against the grain... the masses are all about the bigger rims...get smaller go faster...

Digital tilt sensors, when I had an alarm installed in a previous car, are not that expensive. That was awhile ago.

Do not hook up to stock alarm, bc the horns are easy to get access to. Might as well go for the full alarm system, including glass breakage sensor.

If you really want to deter, have 4 different wheel locks per wheel.

They may be back. They know after the insurance company pays off and you buy new tires and wheels, they can come back shopping. Don't put anything back on until you have a deterrent like locks, etc. Throw them off- put a complete set of locks on each wheel. At least that will slow them down.....lol

We had someone steal the disk brakes off of an airplane parked outside at my airport. After they were replaced with new ones, the thief stopped by for a second time. The airplane is now parked inside.
