So I have a 2013 Honda fit sport and am considering about getting Bluetooth installed..

Would the dealership do this? Or would it be better to get a Bluetooth kit from Amazon? I want to control the Bluetooth to make calls from my steering wheel (hondafreelink)

 

There are a number of well-rated Bluetooth kits on Amazon. The Wirecutter reviewed a bunch of them recently. It seems like it would be way cheaper to get a self-install option.

my cars are all equipped with bt, but honestly speaking, I NEVER use the steering wheel controls to make a call.

voice recognition wat I use. so you might want to look into good VR platforms. I recommend you swap head units to ones dat handle CarPlay (if u have iPhone).

 

Is it possible to retrofit some BT to send music from phone to oem non-navigation head unit? I have USB/aux already from the factory in my 2012.

 

you mean like a BT receiver you can buy from amazon and just wire it up to your HU? dat would be da cheapest way but make sure you can feed it power as they usually just runs on rechargeable batteries.

should just swap your HU with a modern HU with CarPlay and such. it's really not difficult to do and can use steering wheel controls with AXXESS, etc.

 

I mean more that if there is possibility to add/retrofit BT to standard HU. That some of the features could already be there, I just need to activate them. I'm not looking for replacing HU, since I want to keep the stock look. Maybe I could use the original NaviHU but I recon that it's a quite expensive job to pull out.

I've had few BT-transmitters that work with FM-frequensis. You just pop them in to the 12V socket and that's it. I found them clumsy.

 

yah, definitely don't use FM based BT receivers. they sound awful!!

did the 13's even have a BT option? I don't remember if my 12 did or not. one of da first things I did was swap HU, so... (and already sold da car last yr)
