Socal slow lane driver
Hello FitFreak!
I'm Grant from San Diego. Nice forum you have here. Glad I found it. I'm sure I'll hanging around here like it's a second job.
Bought a '15 LX this week. Its a base model with some road time. Let's see how long it goes before the mod bug hits.
Thanks to all for sharing your rides, experience, and knowledge.
-Cheers!

i had parts arriving the same week i bought my '12 GE. i think it was the same week i installed the swifts and tanabe axleback. i suppose having previous experience modding the GD i had no hesitation. so easy to swap springs on this car!

That's what I'm talking about. Forum love! and inspiration. So far, I've done tint the first week, wheels and tires the next. Camber bolts will be here today. Have springs on order, should be here tomorrow. Still deciding if I'll do struts and shocks at the same time.
I told myself I'll "try" to stagger the mods to keep me busy over the next year. But the "feeling of Christmas" every week or every now-and-then is nice.

Went 30% all around, minus windshield. Keeping my fingers crossed vs the popo. I think California still has a zero tint law on front drivers window. (It might have changed but I haven't been keeping up.)

Good choice! I like the same darkness all around.
My understanding is that CA still has the zero tint on front two windows law, but they have eased up on enforcement. Hopefully you'll fly under the radar.
Post pics if you get a chance.

that said, i ran 20% all around on a white car while i lived in LA 20yrs ago and never got pulled over.

.. until i moved out to the midwest and some youngling suburbian cop who had never seen a properly modded car before pulled me over for tint but let me go with only a 'recommendation' to remove the front tint. all he wanted to do was talk about his impreza he had and where i bought my parts. lol

You may be able to see the tint on mine in the picture or in my album. Here in Japan it's called "Privacy glass" and it usually spans the rear windshield, and the back passenger windows. Tints are usually dark and this is somewhat standard for JDM cars.

I've never heard tint called smoke glass but maybe that's a term used and I just never heard of it. I've heard it used when referring to color or as a light form of the contrast, but never as the glass in general. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Snapshot of whats been done so far.
Installed lowering springs yesterday, on stock struts/springs. (not advising to do so, in my case the car dove and bobbed uncomfortably. I'll look into Koni or other sport struts/shocks next.) Today, found out the wheel/tire setup may not work out. Wrong size tires and/or wrong wheel offset. I thought I've done my homework, and I had a near perfect setup. Not hella flush, but just right to my driving preferences. All for not...A little too much poke. Tires rubbed at highway speeds on slight dips.
Plan to go back and look at options.
Thinking: 1. Narrow tires
2. Go back to stock suspension
3. Consider wheel fit options, which I was trying to avoid. (more camber, rolling fender, removing fender liner, shaving and such)
Any advice from the tire fitting gurus? Thanks in advance.
