2018 - Flash Drive folder structure/file naming...
Hey guys,
On Wed. morning I'm off from SLC to LAX to do a "fly-n-buy" for a 2018 Honda Fit Sport. I have read that the deck has USB input and handles mp3's. Since I am heading up the coast and over to Yosemite on the trip, I'd like to prep a flash drive with music for the trip. I understand that the deck has some "quirks" when playing mp3's from a flash drive.
Thanks in advance.

- Can I use folders and sub folders or does it only recognize folders in the root directory?
- What about file names? Will it read and display via the file name or does it need id3 tags?
- Does it recognize .m3u play lists?
- Any other hints?
Thanks in advance.

I have done some limited testing...
For people's information, if you have the Display Audio Touchscreen (2018 Sport, EX and EX-L ):
You can play .mp3, .m4a, .wma, .wav, and .flac
You cannot play .mpc, .ape, or any video formats.
The unit only recognizes folders a flat folder structure, not nested sub-folders. Songs can only be advanced one at a time. Same for folders. This makes for a fairly severe limit for drives with 1000's of songs.
The unit can read at least up to 128MB flash drives.

Did they add more limitations for the 2018?
I've got the 2017; it reads subfolders (Sorted by Artist/Album) and, if not moving, you can use the scroll bar to skip around.
For quirks - If the song or folder name is too long, it won't show up in the listing. Additionally, it seems there is a maximum folder count of 700.
Any folders past 700 just... don't show up on the list for me (tested on a 128GB.)

Apparently they have added limitations, There is no longer a cd player either. Also, apparently, they have made it nearly impossible to swap the dash unit for an aftermarket unit.
But hey, at least they have a volume knob.
