Need help with USB flash drive

I recently installed a JVC KW-XG700 with a front USB port. I bought a 4GB flash drive and put some of my MP3's on it. The problem is that when I put the flash drive into the deck, it just keeps flashing "check". I talked to one of the guys at Crutchfield and he said that from what hes seen, the 1-2GB flash drives work the best.

I'm wondering if I'm loading the MP3's on the flash drive the wrong way?

Thanks!

Ughhhh, this damn thing is pissing me off. It works one minute and not the next. I tried to add some more songs to the flash drive and when I put it in the radio, it either flashes "check" or it will play a second of a song and go back to "check". I'm using the sync method through WMP but something isn't jiving......any thoughts?

How are you loading the mp3's onto the drive in terms of file structure? What encoding are you using - VBR, constant, what data rate? What does the manual say? Try WMA unless you know that won't work.

I just installed a Pioneer USB unit, and it works fantastic. I used Windows Media Player (Windows Vista OS) to rip from CDs to a folder on the computer. From there, you can drag files/folders to the USB drive. I am using a 4G PNY drive I bought from Staples. Had I known better, I would have spent the extra $20 and gotten the 8G drive. Ah well. In another year, we can probably get 20G drives for like $30.

This is how I tried it tonight and it works. I also bought another (different brand) flash drive as well. The first drive was a SanDisk (4GB) and I think it was somehow causing conflicts. I bought a smaller 2GB tonight at Wal Mart and it works perfect.

I am ripping the CD's through Media Player but was syncing the flash drive like an Ipod would. I just tried the drag & drop tonight and all is well.

Thanks again for the help guys!!!
