A Tailgate Subwoofer in a GD3?
A Tailgate Subwoofer in a GD3?
Hi guys!
I'm thinking of getting a subwoofer sometime int the future for my 2008 GD3 Fit. I really can't compromise the cargo space in it, but the other day I had the tailgate open and noticed that the plastic cowl that is on the inside of it is really just that - a plastic lid with a bunch of void space behind it. So I got to thinking - isn't there like a shallow lil' sub you could install there? Maybe cut a big circular hole in the plastic, fix the driver in there, and wire it through the top where the hatch hinges are...
Has anyone attempted something like this? I looked around online and saw a couple pictures of tailgate subwoofers but they were all on ocmpletely different cars.
Cheers!

Tailgate? You mean hatch?
You would have to make/have made a custom inclosure. In order for the sub to work properly it needs to be installed in a box made of acoustic material. Fiberglass can be used to make custom inclosures and can be made into many shapes. Some cars have boxes that are premade to fit in those spaces but don't see one for the Fit.
