Sub placement?

Sub placement?
Hey guys, I've upgraded my audio system in my 08 base Fit with a Pioneer avh-x4500bt and those pioneer 6.5" 3-ways. It's an awesome upgrade but I'm wanting a subwoofer to hit those low notes the speakers can't handle. The only problem is, I use the entire cargo area (seats folded too) quite a bit and am wondering where I should put the subwoofer? I was thinking of getting one of those slim subs and screwing it onto the hatch but I'm not sure if that would even work?
My primary worry is that the plastic is so thin that the sub might rattle itself off, or really support it enough? My friend who works at an audio shop tells me it should work but he's never worked on a Fit before. I'm not a big audio person as far as my knowledge but I'm not afraid of some DIY work.

The plastic shouldn't be used, since it rattles without any driver attached to it. When I had my Fit I built a box that sat in the spare tire well and made a trim panel that covered the entire area such that I was able to put the OEM plastic cover back in there.
