Headlight Lenses Fading From Age

The plastic headlight lenses in our 2013 Fit Sport (U.S.) are becoming faded and fogged from age. I know that the only real fix is to replace the fixtures, but the car is driven by my kid who lives hours away and there's no time during brief visits to mess around loosening up the bumper to complete the work. As far as headlight restoration kits go, has anyone had success with them? From what I read, they're good for about a year, assuming you apply a coating to the surface. Are the kits with drill-powered pads worth the extra expense? The fading is worst on the top of the lenses which bear the brunt of the sun. Thanks for any thoughts.

I've had success with Sylvania's headlight restoration kits (not for a Fit though).

After that, I put 3M clear protective film on my GK and it's been fine.

Thank you @Action Jackson . I'll take a look at Sylvania's product. Is the 3M film you applied a custom cut product or did you cut it yourself? The Fit's headlights are of a pretty complex shape. Thanks again!

I bought some big sheets of the 3M and applied it myself. You'll need a heat gun to help it along. I think there might be some precut headlight protection film by other companies.

Okay, sounds good and it makes sense. Again, I very much appreciate your help with this.
