LED headlight owners - dust sheild/boot issues? Melting?

Hi, got a set of Auxito LED bulbs for my wife's 2010, and I can easily install them. I also understand to first take off the dust boot, put in the flange, then put the dust boot back on, and then the bulb.

My question: If the LED heat sink gets very hot, will it melt the dust boot (or start a fire)? Since the bulb heat sink on these definitely touch the dust boot. These bulbs do not have a fan, it's a passive heat sink.

Thank you.

any moisture issues with the LEDs? I have LEDs with fans and had to trim the boot to fit the heatsink but will get moisture in the headlight after a carwash so I put back the halogens.. starting to think the fan might be the reason for the moisture issue

Mine was a direct install with no trimming of the boot and hence, zero moisture issues in the 7 yrs that I had them.

probably the moisture buildup for your headlight has nothing to do with the LED bulb. by design water drain wont allow water to flow in that direction in significant amount. what it does is it allows water over the headlights; its a good chance the seal on top of your headlight is now old and no longer doing its job. next time run a bead of silicone in top portion and go through car wash (i bet it will cure your issue)

Any recommendations for LED replacement headlight (high/low) bulbs without fans? Those little fans are just begging to get clogged up with road crud and seize up, then overheat.

The LED module itself gets hot (200-250F), but by the time it reaches the heatsink, the temps should be low enough (130-150F?) to not cause issues. Idle your car with the lights on, check temps after about 10-15 mins and see how soft the rubber gets.
