Swapping the rear turn signal and reverse light

I don't know if I'm the only one who is bother by the turn signal being on the inside of the reverse light on the back of our cars. I know function wise it doesn't matter, but to me it just doesn't "make sense".

Anyways, I got around to swapping them around last night. It was definately not as easy as I had hoped. My recommendation to others who want to do this is, don't. It's not worth the hassle. But if you really do want to, filed down tabs on the hold holders is the best way.

I ended up cutting the harness and swapping them because it looked like at least one of my connectors would not reach its new location, and I would have to cut the wires to extend them anyways. But who knows, maybe you'll have enough slack in your car to not have to cut any wires.

Anyways, here are the results:

Close up of swapped bulbs

hazards (turn signals) on

reverse lights on

More details of the issues and alternate methods can be found at this post on my blog.

Thumbs up

I actually did this to, I've always wonder why Honda would put the reverse light on the outer and the signal on the inner part

What I did was swaped the wires & bulbs around to make it work. As you said though the driver side is going to be short, all I did was detach the wire harness holding it in place for it to reach. I have pictures but there at home right now.
