Sylvania SilverStar = the sux

Several months ago, I had purchased a pair of the SilverStars since they were on clearance at walmart for $10.00. Worst swap I've ever made. The white was neat, but the novelty wore off pretty quickly when driving became more of a hazard. It hasn't even been 3 to 4 months and the bulb melted.. The soldering went into a glob inside the tube.

So tonight I picked up a set of GE Nighthawks. These lights are BRIGHT!!!!! I can see the road again!!! With the color temperature being towards daylight, it is not as yellow as the stock set. The price is a bit much, but they are well worth it $27.00 (walmart). If and when these die out, I am checking out Sylvania's Xtralight. I hear it is comparable to the nighthawks and costing only $18.00. So if you are thinking of a set of SilverStars, don't do it!!!! And say no to drugs.

I have silverstars in every one of my Honda's never had a problem, running on 4 years, i love em, almost pure white light, and alot brighter than normal bulbs.

Just because you got one bad pair doesnt mean they all suck.

Im glad you tried the Nighthawks i keep seeing them at Walmart but never get em, because there at Walmart.

I had Sylvania Silverstars on my Xterra for the few months they lasted, switched to Nighthawks and have had them in for two years. One of the first thing I did when I got my Fit was to get Nighthawks for it.

Two questions:

1) What model Nighthawks are for the Fit?

2) Is the insatllation process simple?

Thanks!

I bought my dad some Silverstars for Christmas, for his Scion xA. They have both burned out already. Not a good sign.

By the time you're done, you've just spent enough to buy a HID kit.. LOL

I bought the Silverstars for my wife's accord. It's okay. Just looks a bit brighter than usual...

Yep, I had Silverstars in my xB for 2yrs w/ no problems; could see really well with them too. I have PIAA's now in the Fit and no problems with those either. If I had to buy another set I'd probably get the PIAA's again though over the Silverstars. Only 'cause I like the color better.
