Anyone try one of these HIR bulbs,
halogen infrared reflecting bulbs?
THey have more gas, and a coating that
reflects the infrared heat back to the
filament to produce more light, and the
bulb design to hold more gas, and keep
the heat down. These in the picture
are 60w low beams, and 80w highs.
Should be a good alternative to HID's
w/o a retrofit.

 

Wow I am really interested in hearing a review on these lightbulbs. I am against using HID kits in our stock housings due to glare and DRL issues here in Canada but a new type of bulb?! Lets find some more info out on these.

Thanks for the info. I found a distributor for these products in Torrance, CA and called them to check out prices. Spoke "Keith" (real name Keitaro). there are so many models of bulbs available from IPF that he has to research to get the correct part number and provide prices. He will email the info. to me and I will post it when I get it. Personally, if these work as advertised, but have a somewhat shorter life span, I would rather replace these periodically than to put up with all of the negatives of HID's.

 

I definitely agree. The stock lamps with fogs lights are sufficient enough.

I only searched for the extra info so people here could make a judgment. Personally any bulb that claim to be super bright I tend to avoid as there is always some pitfall to the product. This one is no exception.

I am sticking with the good old oem bulbs for now.

 

I'm gonna install these $100 bulbs tonite!

To add to the doubts about "super bright" aftermarket lights-
I asked the guy at Nukabe Automotive Parts Sales in Torrance, CA, to get me pricing on bulbs to fit 07-08 Honda Fits. Of course that did not happen- he sent me prices on 5 different types of bulbs of the H4 type, with no indication of which one was Fit specific. Prices ranged from $63.99 to $128.99, discounted 30% for 5 sets with higher discounts for higher numbers. I will leave these alone just like the other posters.

 

If you want some REAL HID-replica lights, go with PIAA. I've had them for years in my 'lude and absolutely love them. These no-name "ir" bulbs just scream "total scam" IMO.

If Jimmy's IPF bulbs are the clear ones, those were priced at $63.99 by the Torrance CA distributor.

 

they are an upgrade to get brighter beams, but if your going to spend around 60 bucks, fork out the extra bucks and rock hid's.

 

It's not about money to me, it's about not blinding other drivers by having HID's in halogen reflectors.

I'm currently using Phillips Crystal vision Extreme bulbs 4000k and they are a huge improvement over the stock bulbs. I picked them up at costco for $35.

I would love to try these hir bulbs vs my upgraded philips.

 

the thing is that bulb takes 60W while the stock uses 55W...im gonna have to go with my 35W HIDs

 

Those bulbs look pretty interesting, but I wonder if the extra 5w will affect the stock wiring etc. I'm in the same boat as Combo, I'd rather go with HIDs.

 

 

Well, I drove with these last night, My headlight housing
and wiring felt fine, no excessive heat. Bulbs fit just fine.
No glare issues. Just more light.
Low beams are 60watts, so don't expect wonders, with
5watts over stock. They are much brighter then stock and my philips 50%+ bulbs.
High beams are 80watts, and wow! Big difference.
I highly recommend them if you use your high beams
alot, very bright!!!
Many hir manufacturers claim these put out 75-80% of light of
hid system, My guesstimate would be 70%. compare with my
denso hid in toyota.
Paid $99 + s/h. So shop around. MSRP 11,300 yen, or $100 usd in Japan.
So its not to overpriced for JDM stuff.
Alternatively theres Mtec& Nokya over wattage bulbs for $30 or so.
