yaaa..... looking to light up my cup holders via battery power. anyone know a place i can buy that? or even the LED strips i can place around the cup holders, but battery operated.my wife doesn't want wires everywhere, and i dont want to void my warranty.

uhh...ya. not what i meant. i SPECIFICALLY said NO WIRING and NO WARRANTY VOIDING. so while i do plan to do that LED conversion, it wont be for a while. like i said, i'm wanting something battery operated, or powered by an individual power source. any advice now?

 

you could get a small black light that has a 12v cord end. i have one in my car...only problem ive had with it is my bulb went bad really quick from it not being secured good enough and bouncing...

probably not what youre looking for but thats what im doing til i do the previously posted mod.

 

You said your wife didn't want "wires everywhere", though with the DIY there wouldn't be any visible wires and it won't void the warranty. But, whatever.

I can't think of an easy way to light up the cupholders with no wires and running off battery power.

 

he did instruct us to use WIRE CUTTERS in the section that says "tools needed". and if the dealer here where i live saw what i did they'd freak out because they are morons and would try to void my warranty. especially if the lights behind the HVAC went or the radio stopped working for some reason not related to the HVAC install. i do appreciate the help cojaro! i just looked at that already and didnt find what i personally was looking for. maybe autobone sells some cheapo "light-up" kit? lol

 

You could power some leds off a 9 volt battery.You would just need to measure how much resistance you need and how to wire (parallel or series). I dont think they would void your warranty for having lights that are not even attached the car wiring. I did this on my gh3 guitar.

I think there's just enough room below the HVAC controls to stick one of these babies up!

 

I'd suggest you get something like this:



Plugs into the 12V accessory thingy and you can direct the lights to wherever you want. There are a lot of different kinds out there, so shop around.
