LED's done on the cheap.

Alright, so I've been seeing a lot of L.E.D. installs both inside and out of the car. Exterior LED's have been mainly in the head light area, copying off of the Audi R8. Comparing price to quality I decided to go it alone and install a set of high intensity blue LED's on my Fit. Sorry if there are no install pictures. I'll take some when I install the side mirror LED blinkers.

The cost? About $60.00.

The hardest part? Matching the color codes on the resistors.

Feed me feed back please!!!

Yeah you can mount them anywhere. I have to tell you though, I took the front bumper off and had it on my couch, just so I could measure and cut the holes needed for the individual lights. My Dremel and I have a loving relationship. Measure twice, cut once!

Did you try it in yellow or white? Would have looked better in my opinion. Different though.

that looks like fun. but blue will get us pulled over in IL.

as mentioned above, white or yellow would be preferred if used
on a daily basis.

I'll be installing LED's on both of my mirror's. They will alternate from yellow
to blue. The yellow will flash along with my turn signal, the blue will be linked to the lights on the front. I will do my best to take as many photo's as I can, just to illistrate how easy this is. Easy but time consuming.

As far as the Po Po. I have past at leaste 20 cops in the past week since I installed them and so far so good. I think having bluish/white head lights blends the colors so that they don't stand out too much. As soon as I do get stopped I'll post it up!

I guess the usual thing I should say first is, that any work you do to your
car is not my responsibility. That being said I also guess I should add that
it is also not the responsibility of Fitfreak.net either.

Yawn!

Other than the soldering stuff, hot glue gun and the Dremel all the
parts used were all purchased at Radio Shack, (not their fault either
if you screw up) and were not cheapest you could get. Yeah I paid
4 buck each for the LED's and I'm sure you can get them on-line for
a song, but that's not what you were asking huh? Ok here's the list, but
let me warn you it's short!

1)Dremel
2)Hot Glue gun
3)Solder stuff
4)Wire (not sure on the Gauge, but thin, your not powering very much)
5)5mm Blue LED 3.7 Volt . 20mA . 2600mcd Prt# 276-0316
6)Panel-Mount LED holders Prt# 276-080
7)Ohm resistor (don't ask me what strength it depends on your install)
8)On-Off clicker
9)Balls of solid granite to Dremel the shit out of your bumper!

Bottom line is this. I'm not an Electrician! The install was not even that
clean. When I do the mirrors they will be better installed cause now I have
experience. Measure twice that's all. Not sure it's going to work? Try it out
on a friends car first (just as long as you don't like them very much) and see if you can get it. This mod is cheap less than $60.00 and the reactions
I'm getting are amazing! Be brave, have fun, stay safe! Post up pictures
of YOUR LED's! Not LEDS from some company installed on your car. Good luck!!

So.... yeah I'll be honest. I've been a bit lazy. Just spent the last two weeks driving around with no mirror's! You really should plan ahead if your going
attempt this.

Now the mirror's are installed and the wiring for the lights are under the dash. Props to my home boy Syhed for letting me use his garage! All that is left is to hook it all up. The lighting for the mirror's was about the same price as the lights for the fronts (yellow is cheaper) so I added some blue LED's to spice it up. I'll post up pic's as soon as I finish.

Has anyone else installed custom LED's on there rides?

If so post up people!

Yo! Winter sucks! I skimped on the hot glue for the weather proofing and paid the price. The blinkers still work. Sorry no pic's yet, I'll try and take them this week-end. The blue lights in the front started to get corroded, so I removed them. Taken what I've learned so far the only set back was that I did not use enough hot glue to protect the wires.
