Bulging Fog Light Bulb - Uh Oh.... [PICS]

Its been a few months since i put in the bulbs, im not sure if they got any dimmer over time. woudnt be able to notice it. but one bulbed went off so i had to replace it right. i take it out, and i notice like the tip is bulbged, like the sides of it. i was worried about this... then it hit me, i hjave the independant fog light mod, and its set up to stay on with the high beams. its been this set up for about a month? maybe 2? i replaced it with the same exact bulb, replaced both. oh and both bulbs were bulged. heres the pics. can someone tell me whats causing this? so i dont do it again =\

hmm, yea thats what i was thinkin, puttin back the reuglar way. but, can i have it set up to turn off with high beams, but as an option, have it on with low beams off, like an old fasion independant fog mod. would that be ok?

that happens a lot with high wattage bulbs. I have even seen it on OEM bulbs quite regularly. usually they start to get dim and one will burn out, then you pull them and they are all funky shaped.

hmm, i was thinking of something the other night, is there, by any chance, something that could limit the wattage that is going to the bulbs? i would assume it goes between the power source (plug) and the blubs.

dude i want a meet so bad, i just put soem LEDs on the 3rd brake light heh and tint is next on the wish list, as soon as i get a job >.< either that or front red emblem heh. point being: IM WAITING!!! lol

Buy standard wattage bulbs with a xenon or krypton mixture and you shouldn't have any issues. OEM bulbs will still do this when they get old. I run with my lights on all the time just so people see the lil silver jelly bean coming, and all my other rides have nice HID setups, so its nice to show em off, even in the day :P

Bump on this question, ill put it in terms of wiring, sometimes you need to put resistors on wires to limit the amount electricty going to the (item). i needed this for my ghetto-JDM tailight. is there some kind of device or "limitor" that i can put somewhere before the bulb, so that way there still woudnt be too much wattage going to the fogs during high beams.

P.S. should i be worried if i contrinue this if i get HID fogs? or will the ballast take care of the amount of wattage it is to be sent to the fogs?
