IMO.....

For light output:
Philips Vision Plus or Orsam Silverstars

For looks:
Luminics and Nokya looks pretty good to me....

So you have to decide for yourself if you want function or looks.

As for HID's... Im actually running a set right now, and the glare is just terrible! Also, with HID's, you basically lose your highbeams and DRL (if you have it)

Which lasts the longest: PIAA, Sylvania, or Philips?

I am just about to buy the PIAA because it is a company I have heard of but does anyone know Which lasts the longest: PIAA, Sylvania, or Philips?

Is H4 the correct bulb to buy to replace the Fit's headlight that functions as a low and high beam?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the PIAA GTX bulbs with purple-ish tints...made a great difference in looks and output...very close to HID, I retrofitted HID before, and I strongly suggest not to get the HID kits, as they will glare too much and the lights are ouput to the side and top, down...just leaks everywhere and looks terrible, save your money for a real HID retrofit...

Bulbs vs. HID kit - price range
Bulbs Head light (H4) & fog lights (H11) spending about $150 or less.
HID system (H4 dual beam, made in Japan kit cost $399) + HID for fog light
(H11 single beam kit $299)
Members how much would you want to spend on lighting upgrade?

Exclamation

- For halogen bulbs I would have to say Philips Vision Plus.

- HID upgrades are nice and while not perfect like a "true HID system" it still outblasts anything that halogen can offer.

I went with a 4300K for my headlights and 3000K for my foglights that Roger@IK.com is selling in his group buy:

If you want to see, read http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/tech.html (plus http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/pdf82/176157_web.pdf for the technically literate).

when you replace your halogen bulbs with brighter bulbs they are usually almost twice the normal wattage. this means twice the current draw and significantly more heat. you run the risk of melting the factory wiring harness if you put a 100 watt bulb in a socket that has wires guaged for 55 watts.

ive replaced many a melted plug/harness at work due to people just buying 100 watt bulbs thinking they will do the trick and not knowing whats really going to happen.

if you choose to stick with halogen bulbs then get something thats the proper wattage. either that or just pick up a set of HID's .

Daniel Sterns knows his $hit! I bought a pair of Osram SilverStars off eBay and they are 5x better than the American Sylvania junk you buy at Pep Boys.

according to daniel stern, you can get better light output (almost double) from the fog lights by replacing the h11's with h9. h11 are 35w and h9 are 65w

im curious if anyone here in the forum has tried 100/90w h4 bulbs?

and for the people that have used HID's, what brand did you go with?

this is what i've heard also, but the stock H11's on hondas are not 35W, they're 55W, so I'm not sure if its
worth the money and trouble to upgrade to another 10Watts, but hey 15% increase is noticeable

as far as 100 watt H4 bulbs go, they work great, however...that's a lot of heat o.O

Just make sure that you don't melt anything hehe

i was mistaken... im sorry, typing too fast. i meant 55 not 35

55w h11 bulb produces 1350 lumens (per rallylights.com)
65w h9 bulb produces 2100 lumens

not bad for a 10w difference huh?

retrofitted hid at 4300k should be 3200 lumens

dangs 2100 lumens isn't bad at all...it's prolly cuz the type/shape of bulb....

I think I will look into this more now
