i agree with you, im justing looking for a simple DIY on this as well some needs to make a to the point DIY and make a sticky with no added post, just the how to with pics possibly!!
I agree completely! |
so take the diy's i did and paste them to a new thread. then have the moderator sticky them. can't get any simpler than that. i probably know as much about electrical wiring as you. just a pair of balls to give it a try from what someone else hypothesized about (thanks again j5ive).
I put up the diy's and countless others have done this with no problems. just give it a try. |

i agree completely. maybe one of the moderators can strip it out and create a new sticky.
Anyone out there who has admin access??? |

Special thanks to j5ive and leonine for your instruction and write-up.
Also, thanks to all those who provided all the good info in this DIY. I followed the instruction of this write-up in post #173 and now I can use my fog light independently. I'm not too keen with DIY but with a clearly instructed write-up like this one, I did it with confidence. It took me a good half an hour or so to complete. Here's a picture taken right after the completion. Not a good one but enough just to let all know: Attachment 82231 |
Independent fogs in my opinion is the easiest and coolest free mod out there. haha. I love mine and have never had any issues with them.

Good to hear, Josh. I was wondering about the long term use too.
And I'm glad you stated that. That makes me feel much better. I agree with the easy mod. But it's not free, I had to purchase the hardwares. LOL. It's dirt cheap though. Thanks again, Josh! Chris. **jdjohnson9 for Moderator** |

its just that if you were new to the site and wanted to do this mod youd have to read through 15 pages and with all the back and forth can confuse someone quite easy. not that you didnt do a good DIY its just that the DIY should be somewhat of a guide for someone to follow.

This is what i was refering to... not that what was posted in here wasnt good enough, it's just hard to find. It took me 2 days and posting a question to make sure i found the right thing. I'm still not sure if this "mod" is going to do anything to my dash lights. I dont want lights on when they arent supposed to be on. I dont want dim lights, i just want my fogs to work when i turn them on, period. :popc:

Performed this mod this afternoon, posts 173 and 232 made it easy, except...position 24 is unusable in my 08. In fact, all empty slots in my fusebox have no power, I ended up using 22. Anyone else run into this??
|
thanks for all your help leonine, the fog setup on my fit works great, even in hi/low beam but this was a pain in the ass to get to all the wire due to all the spaces limited.. i'll post picture up soon.......

A Big Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here's a few pics of how to mod the wiring to have your fogs work with the high-beams.
Below is a pic of the bottom right of the fuse box inside the car. The relay above the empty slot is for the fogs. http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/7938/img3352yc6.jpg Next is a shot from behind. Cut the red/wht wire. Cap off the car side and run a length of wire to the portion coming out of the relay. http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/7662/img3355iz3.jpg Finally, ground the wire and your done. http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/7561/img3354mg6.jpg Hope that helps for those having any difficulties. so wait
in leonine's version, all you have to do is ground the red/white wire, and you have complete fog control? or is this in addition to the previous mods, on top of the steering wheel etc.? what did i miss |

YAY!!!!!!! i succesfully did it
hahaha took 15 min including the fact that it didnt work the first time hahahaha its cuz the wires werent connected to the "add a circuit" so i cut it off and did it again =] i like it I was going to do the hi beams but i didnt have the right ground connector thingy =/ oh wells im happy |
It works!
Thanks j5ive and leonine! I cut the wrong wire at the steering wheel the first time around, just from a bad memory of how to do it, but having put the disconnects on, it went back together no problem. Wired it up to slot #22, and fogs work anytime!
|
Everyone's input definitely made this mod easy. Thanks for the info.
|
anyone know how to alter this mod to work with aftermarket fogs? or are they already independent?
thanks! |
