Ok ladies and gentlemen heres a DIY for the Independent Fogs Re-Wire my way.
For a newbie to our forum looking to do this mod can be quite a task reading though the many many post to find exactly how to do this so, this is the Independent Fogs How To for Dummies, simple and easy. (hopefully)

P.S. Dear mods please make a STICKY for this so members have fast and easy access to this mod. THANKS

Ok here we:
First disconnect the negative side of battery to keep for shorting anything. (not a must, just prefer)
Second remove the fuse panel cover

Size: 47.6 KB

Size: 34.7 KB
Third remove the bottom panel, removing these two panel will give you access to the relay/fuse panel
Name: foglights003.jpg
Views: 409
Size: 35.3 KB
Fourth find the fog light relay which is on the bottom right on the panel, use a small flathead driver to remove the relay
Name: foglights004.jpg
Views: 370
Size: 70.3 KB
Name: foglights005.jpg
Views: 412
Size: 75.5 KB
Find the Red/White wire on the back of the relay and cut it
Name: foglights006.jpg
Views: 365
Size: 57.4 KB
Name: IMG_1729.jpg
Views: 422
Size: 81.7 KB
Take a piece of wire and connect it to the relay side (i solder mine but you can just crimp it) and connect it to ground i unbolted the 10mm right behind the relay and connected it with a ring terminal and cap or tape off the other end.

Now your done with the fog light relay reinstall the relay on the fuse panel.
So far so good I hope, now you need to power the fog light switch to do this you will need to remove the top steering column cover to expose the 16-pin harness

Once removed look to the left for the 16-pin plug and disconnect it.

Size: 80.9 KB
Find the Red/Yellow wire and cut it. Then, connect a long piece of wire to the coming from the harness, and run that wire down to the under dash fusebox. Cap or tape off the other end.(Again i solder my connections but you can use butt connector or crimp)
Name: foglights017.jpg

Size: 83.6 KB

Size: 71.3 KB
Name: IMG_1846.jpg
Views: 401
Size: 74.0 KB
Once at the fusebox, connect the wire to a add-a-circuit,(which i installed two 10amp fuses only because I am running HIDs in the fogs)
Name: IMG_1744.jpg
Views: 387
Size: 69.1 KB
Name: IMG_1746.jpg

Name: IMG_1751.jpg
Views: 376
Size: 29.2 KB
Name: IMG_1759.jpg
Views: 341
Size: 28.1 KB
Find the spare fuse slot #24 which is ignition switched
Name: IMG_1850.jpg
Views: 369
Size: 88.3 KB
Now plug your add-a-circuit to the empty slot
Name: IMG_1769.jpg
Views: 351
Size: 92.4 KB
Name: IMG_1770.jpg
Views: 350
Size: 88.1 KB
Then you can plug back in your 16-pin plug to the headlight switch
Name: IMG_1851.jpg
Views: 438
Size: 84.3 KB
And your fog light circuit is now completely independent from the rest of the lighting circuit, and will/should operate whenever you have your ignition switched on.
You now will just need to re-install your steering column cover
Name: foglights011.jpg
Views: 387
Size: 89.7 KB
Name: foglights012.jpg
Views: 395
Size: 86.7 KB
And re-install the bottom cover and the relay/fusebox cover.

Name: foglights003.jpg
Views: 409
Size: 35.3 KB
Name: IMG_1870.jpg
Views: 384
Size: 47.6 KB
Name: foglights002.jpg
Views: 408
Size: 34.7 KB
Name: IMG_1871.jpg
Views: 401
Size: 65.8 KB
Finally your done!!! No other indicators on when fogs are in use
Name: IMG_1772.jpg
Views: 430
Size: 26.7 KB
Name: IMG_1774.jpg
Views: 409
Size: 53.2 KB

Another alternative location for powering the fog switch is to put your add-a-circuit in the #22 fuse, which powers the dash, front parking, etc lights and your fogs will only come on when the park light are switched on.

Hope this works for you guys!!

does anyone know, on that 16 pin plug in the column, which wires are for the headlight relay, and parking lights relay?

b/c if (and i don't know if this is how it is setup) but if when you turn the switch to headlights that creates the ground for the fog light switch,
you might be able to tap that red/yel wire to one of its neighbors and have fog light control when the parking lights are on

not thats it that big a deal, but you wouldn't have to run that "add a fuse"

yeah i found many write ups within many many post trying to find the right one is very complicated. and as a newbie to our forum can scare someone away from trying this so wanted to make a detail and easy DIY for someone to follow.

Thank you for doing a new write up that has pictures and detailed instructions.
I have found the other write ups, but they were long/filled with contridictery info and was hard to figure out which was the "right" way, so this new one is very much appreciated.

I don't pick up my Fit until next week, but this is going to be modifcation #1....well maybe #2, deativating the DRL's is easier so it'll probably be first.

GREAT glad i could help. that the same way i felt when wanting to do this mod and figure it would be much more helpful to do a start to the point write up with detailed pics.

Does anyone know the answer to m-man's question?

I will do it this way but would prefer to be able to leave the foglight switch to 'on' and not have to deal with turning 2 things off instead of just one. Call me lazy but it would be nice to just have the foglights come on when the parking lights are on and go off when i shut my lights off.
