H-4 LED vs. HID
The SI unit of luminous flux is the lumen (lm). One lumen is defined as the luminous flux of light produced by a light source that emits one candela of luminous intensity over a solid angle of one steradian. In other systems of units, luminous flux may have units of power.
Has anyone tried the 102 LED H-4's? The LM (lumens) on a
102 LED is :
Type: H4
Voltage: 12V
Color: white
LED qty: 102
Luminous flux: 350LM
Color temperature: 5500K
Lighting angle: 360 degrees
Lifespan: 50, 000 hours
Were the as HID is :
Voltage: DC12V
Power: 60/55W
Lumen:95/85LM
So if LM is the the intesity of light then could the LED be brighter? and thus project further down the road?

I'd check that info... a good HID setup (good ballast, bulbs, etc.) at 4300k delivers 3200lm; and proper h4 halogens, about 1000/1500lm.
There's no LED direct bulb replacement that performs as good as halogens yet, as far as I know.
Cheers!

The trouble with LED isn't that they don't produce lots of light output. The trouble is that the output is difficult to focus and project over distance. If you were already running a projector retrofit then the LED bulbs would be worth trying. With only our stock reflectors however, I don't think they would be useable for anything other than show.
