Retrofitting Tails?

I was just wondering if anybody has done this for the Fit before?

I was looking to get LED tails but I'm not sure I like any of the ones out there, or they're too expensive, and thought maybe I'd hack something up myself instead.

The OEM tails seem pretty cheap to get, and I've done a retrofit of my headlights, and know a bit about hooking up electronics... so I thought I'd perhaps give this a shot - maybe this will be my pet project for the summer

Found this link for a Toyota Camry, thought it was interesting:
LED Tail light Retrofit.. - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Does anybody have any insights on how difficult it'd be to take apart the taillights for the fit?

Thanks!

There's a lot of work to create wafer board of LEDs and retrofit it. I managed to fit (no pun intended) round LED pucks from a semi-trailer into my old Element's tail lights. If the Fit's taillights are bigger than 2x6 (I know they are), you can glue these into the lenses and they'll look stock:

The oval pucks are a similar shape to the GE tail light brake light shape.
