168/194, be sure to get the high power leds, 1watt. and not anything less. as they are not very bright.

will it be necessary to install load equalizers after installing the LED bulbs?

It's actually a 2825/W5W bulb, but the base is the same as a 168/194. So if you're just looking for LED replacements, that's fine.

A load equalizer is only needed for the turn signals to counter the effects of hyper-flashing. It should not be needed for taillamp replacement.

I burned out my LEDs on the high mount/3rd brake light without load equalizers on my VW Golf. Am taking delivery of my 2009 Fit this week and will measure the voltage into the 3rd brake light with the factory incandescent bulbs. If the voltage you are reading with LEDs is much less, there's a good chance the LEDs will burn out over time due to excessive voltage. This would then require a load equalizer/resistor to take up the extra voltage in. Just my two-cents from dealing with LEDs in the past.

So picked up my 2009 Fit the other day, totally excited etc., and just took apart the 3rd brake light. As it turns out, it already comes equipped with LEDs. I suppose you're driving the first generation?

In any case, if you don't have LEDs they're likely 194 "peanut" style bulbs. Plug and play - but make sure you wire resistors into them as the bulbs may burn out over time.

Your best bet is to contact someone on this forum who's selling off JDM or aftermarket parts. I saw a clear LED 3rd brake light....I'll check on the poster and reply in a sec...
