Rear View Mirror Problem.
Rear View Mirror Problem.
Hi! Asking for help from the Philippines. I'm a first time owner of a Jazz/Fit. I installed a 1300W Sony Xplod sub in my trunk and noticed a problem with my rear view mirror, it keeps vibrating out of its place. I've never had such a problem with my other cars before even with the sub at full. Went to the dealer and they replaced it FOC with a new one claiming that it was loose, same problem. Is there anything I can stick/block the rear view mirror mount with so that I can stop it from shaking out of its set place? Thought of gluing it but would want to ask first. Thanks.
Yeah I was going to suggest turning the sub down a bit.
I got a 1000w Pioneer 12" in the back of mine and when I turn it to the full capacity the entire rear view mirror shakes out of place.
However I find that when I've got it turned to low-moderate bass it will vibrate but wouldn't move out of place.

what's up? yeah... i picked up a broadway too and i returned it thinking maybe the spring clip was kinda loose. the 2nd one acts the same way and my car still rolling on stock. can't imagine what will happen when i feel every single bump on the road when i get real suspensions on it.... i was gonna try to mess around with the spring mechanism. maybe making it tighter will help it grip the factory mirror tighter??? :P
You could try cutting a small piece of dynamat and then take out the mirror, mount the dynamat to the roof and then reinstall the mirror. I did it on my RSX which has the same type of mirror and it helped some.
shit...all those tricks dont work. i tried everything. from dynamat all the way to taking the stupid mirror off. when i was running 1000rms in a 18" sub. my mirror actually snapped off the mounts and it got really annoying. now im running a smaller sub, but with my broadway mirror i get a whole lot of clapping. sucks but i cant really do anything about it. the only real way, is to i guess make a bracket that sticks from the window onto the mirror itself, and make sure the rear view mirror pole is stiff as hell. other then that, there is really no other solution
It happens with stock speakers too. I have my bass at max and treble at low so my review mirror shakes as well. Turning the bass down on a sub won't make a diff at all.
Maybe you could find some insulation or something to cover the interior of the trunk with. Most cars get those types of treatments, but most cars have trunks. The insulation may or may not absorb some of the vibration. Just and idea, not 100% guarenteed. If anyone tries this or knows more, let me know!

what does insulating the trunk have to do with the rear view mirror? in my past hatches...ive edead the entire car, but in the hatch ive layed 2 layers. and i have still yet to fix the problem of the vibrating rear view mirror. on our cars, its located and mounted to the roof line. there will always be vibrations along the car since im running a sub.
HAha I said i may be wrong bro. I just figured that by completely closing off the storage space and insulating it would absorb some of the vibration thus keeping the rear view mirror stable.
I guess its best to go to a professional for this one.

you can try setting the mirror where you want. then in the little cup where it rotates put hot glue in there. the mirror will stop moving around. But theres not much you can do to stop it from vibrating. The reason is because alot of you bass is focused at the spot where its mounted. the whole section where the window meets the roof in my car moves almost and inch when my subs really get to wangin. And the mirror has actually fallen off.
