Mirror Moving

Well I had my Sub installed today and I saw on one song the tone it's hitting vibrates the rear view so much that it actually move the angle points down and then starts to spin. I am pretty upset as when driving this could cause a major problem. The little rubber piece that came with the car does nothing. I know the mirror will vibrate I can deal with that but the fact that it is completely moving really gets to me.

What are some ideas to fix this?

Take it apart and jam a washer in there to better clamp down on the ball... Or you can install one from an EF... They tend to hold their position better...

An EF

And yes it's my first car, I have friends and they vibrate but I did not think mine was so loose it would move completely.

I don't mind the Fit's mirror so much, don't need to look behind me all that much, if I do I just push it back in place. I've had cars where the whole entire mirror would fall of the windshield.

My friend had the same problem with his old accord. His solution? Set the mirror in its place and superglue it. Has not moved since. Not what I would have done myself but I found it humorous.

noise pollution!!! blah!
and added weight... blah less MPGs!!

Get a better mirror or get a smaller/less powerful setup.

I've got 75 pounds of subwoofer setup in my trunk and I'm getting 36mpg around town, the weight can't be killing the mpg too much.

back in the day I had an RE MT 18" woofer in my eclipse, the double reinforced box + woofer was over 130 lbs and I was running it on two viper d 1200.1 1200w amps.

...you learn to give up on that rear view mirror for the times you want bass.

but yes, when I took the woofer out I noticed a WHOLE lot more get up and an improvement in gas mileage :-P

and in the end I decided that big subwoofer sound is ridiculous. I acquired musical tastes and now i can't stand overbearing subwoofer :-P

p.s. I hear like a 60 year old man and i'm 20.

I don't go that crazy, I've got a jl 10w3 in a 1.5cuft ported box with about 400watts of RMS power. I've had some bigger setups when I had an SUV but I like my bass clean and to accompany the music. It still shakes the shit out of my mirror though.

This might not help with your problem of a totally loose mirror, but to help minimize the vibrations that I was getting in mine, I affixed a small, flat lead weight to the backside of it. You can't see it at all, and I no longer experience the vibes that accompany my loud music.

p.s.: I'm 43. Did over 200 concerts in college, had the in car system etc. I'm almost 70% loss on my right ear. Left is better. On the positive side I don't have to worry about MP4 or any 'hi-def' audio upgrades!
