D3 installation

Can you show how you mounted the GPS antenna? Also, I've been trying to identify the leads (reverse, VSS and parking brake) that the D3 needs for installation. VSS and reverse have been identified in another thread.

Thanks

the d3 doesnt have to have the vss or reverse hooked up to work. we install pioneer units every day and the built in sensors work fine .

as for the park brake you can unpin the mute wire, move it to the pin above it and ground it along with the park brake to bypass those.

I wasn't looking to bypass the lockout. I don't need to be watching videos while I'm driving.

I thought VSS was used for the deadreckoning mode and would improve the overall accuacy of the nav solution. Anyway, it appears that that lead is already in the radio harness, so it should be easy to get to.

How did you install the GPS antenna?

i put my nav and xm antenna in the dash above the center ac vents. it was a pain but i didnt want them to show they work fine. the gps is very acurate without the vss and reverse but if u feel you need to hook them up its not hard to do.

Okay, did some more research:

Metra Kit: 99-7872

Only seen it available from a couple vendors/sellers on the internet, anywhere from $107-$127

What did you guys pay and where?

GPS antenna

If you are getting strong signal with the GPS antenna inside the dash, that's good news. I wasn't sure if that would work or not. If you have installation pictures, please post.

Would it be possible to order the kit form you directly? If so - just let me know. I can pay today (over the phone or via PayPal) or however you might need it done...

Thanks

Mike

Man, i want to get one of these so bad, but after seeing the Metra one, i think ill wait for Scosche, especially since theyre approximately the same price. Plus i recall the Scosche kit comes with the wiring harness adaptor and the antenna adaptor.
