XM Radio install......need info
XM Radio install......need info
After doing a lot of reading on how to install a xm radio in my 2007 sport fit. I have received everything for the install. I have a delphia 3 radio, the car mount kit, the honda vehicle antenna adaptor cable kit, and the delphi fm direct adaptor. Runnning the antenna wire from the top of my car to the front is no problem for me. Stupid me thought there would be instructions on how to connect the fm direct adaptor and the vehicle antenna adaptor cable kit. I understand that I have to pull out the radio and disconnect the antenna and plug into the adaptor, there are two green wires in this adaptor and to me they look like ground wires, I have no idea what I am supposed to do with these. Has anyone installed this kind of set up. Please help. Thanks

Honda uses an amplified antenna and requires additional power. This means that Honda's antenna cable has 3 wires: 2 for the antenna and a third for power. The standard Motorola antenna is not amplified and thus only has 2 wires. Because the ends on your antenna adapters are the standard Motorola type, you need a third contact in order for your regular antenna to work properly. Therefore, simply connect the 2 green (or perhaps blue) wires from the 2 adapters so that power is getting to your regular antenna. If you forget this step, you’ll know by the poor reception you get when listening to terrestrial radio.
