question: stock stereo w/subs

i want to install my subwoofers with the stock head unit, but since the stock head unit doesnt have a subwoofer output how can i get a signal to the amp? can i splice it from the speakers? if so do i need a crossover?

Many subs have "speaker level" inputs which can be spliced directly into the speaker wires.

If the amp powering your sub doesn't have high level (speaker wire inputs) then just use a high to low (RCA cable) converter which cost about $20. Most subs with integrated subs like SAS Bazooka tubes have high level inputs built in. You don't need a crossover.
