Fit Sport Alarm

When I bought my FIT Sport, I paid extra for an alarm. What I got is a little black box that was screwed onto the outside cover of the fuse box. It has a little LED that flashes. I thought that the installation was second rate and that a dealer installed option should not be screwed into a trim panel.

Anyway, I find out now that the Sport comes with an alarm. i am wondering what I actually paid for and got. I wrote an email to the dealer asking this question and for a manual for the alarm.

Anyone else pay extra for an alarm? I think I got shafted.

it just a shock sensor. I paid for it too... honestly, I don't think it's worth how much they charge. I gat a manual, and it just shows you how to enable/disable it. It was seriously like 5 pages.

Shock sensor? Where are the sensors located? It looks like it just plugged into an existing wiring harness (I believe all Fits are prewired for most of their accessories) and nothing else. If the black box with the LED is supposed to pick up vibrations, would the fuse box cover be the best place for it, I wonder. It just looks cheap.

How do you put it in valet mode? What does that give you?

Thanks!

if all the aftermarket alarm does is add a shock sensor, valet mode turns off the alarm (aftermarket). with key in ON position, you push the button and hold it until the light blinks. to turn it back on, repeat process.

I did a further search on the subject in this forum and people were saying that they believe it enables the shock sensor part of the stock alarm system. I guess it's just the logic circuitry for it.

I need to look for the button. Is it near the LED? Just wondering as I'll probably never ever use it.

Thanks all for the info! I'm interested to hear what the dealer will say. I'll let you know.

The dealer wrote back and said:

"the additional system added to your vehicle has a starter interrupt and a shock sensor so if the vehicle's glass is broken or the vehicle is moved it will make the alarm go off."

Sounds good although when I bought the car, it wasn't described this way. I thought I was buying an entire system, not an additional part.
