Fit Audio System Problem

I was driving today and the sound system quit. I have no output from my CD, Radio or AUX port. I waited an hour and tried again. I had sound for about 3 minutes and it went dead again. I removed the radio fuse and replaced it. The theft proteection feature did not ask me to enter the security code.

Has anyone had this issue with their Fit?

if you have the radio code, try resetting the radio by removing the negative battery cable and then putting it back on. you'll need to enter the radio code...but that might fix it. The only other thing I can think of would be a short somewhere in the dash. That's an odd problem. Especially if it goes completely dead. Do you have power to the radio and just no sound output?

the radio will only ask for a code if you disconnected the +12v mem fuse which usually isn't marked as radio. The radio fuse is usually the accessory turn on fr the radio so it wouldn't affect the anti theft business. WHat is seems ike is that you have a defective speaker which has a coil rubbing on the pole piece. so it only shorts out some of the time. This causes your radio to go into a protection mode which turns off he MOSFET chip so yuo get no output. Either that or it's a honda and you got water into the speaker terminal (somewhat common problem) so it'll stop doing it once it dries out.

Hi Donald, you are correct in that it was a shorted speaker. It was my fault though. I replaced the factory speakers several weeks before I had my problem. On the day that I posted the system output vanished. I went back in and looked at the speakers and did find that one of them had made contact with the door steel.

Thanks for the reply.
