Radio Code

I recently purchased a 2010 Fit with a salvage title.

I tried the simple instructions hoping to get the Radio's serial number. The word COdE never comes up on the display. I tried the procedure anyway but all I see is the message "DIAG".

The radio still works. I would like to determine the code before I loose power to the Radio (It's only a matter of time). Is my assumption correct that removing the #1 backup fuse is not the same as loosing power to the radio. Or am I incorrect and should wait until I am actually required to enter the Radio code before removing the backup fuse? I do not want to do anything that will require me to enter the Radio Code prematurely.

I do not have the owners manual so no possibility of finding the Radio code in the original manual.

The Glove Box does not have the Radio code. I looked at all other possible locations and could not find the elusive sticker that some are lucky enough to find.

Removing the back-up fuse will kill the radio!!! (or removing the negative battery lead)

As for the radio code I do not know the trick to get it out of the radio proper.

But...from what I've read on this site all you need to do is go to your local dealership and they will fix your problem pronto.

DIAG is for Diagnostic Mode.

I got on line on the Honda site and submitted a change of ownership to me. Then I called and and told them I needed the code. They looked up the car and saw that I owned it so they gave me the code over the phone.

They do not really know who owns the car as this one was really registered to my daughter.

You can also go to a dealer with the registration for the vehicle and the car. They will look up the code. I do not know if they charge for this service.

If you can`t get to a dealership, try to PM the person in the thread below (first post)

Thanks

Sure glad I asked.

Thanks everyone. Next time I'm at the (not very local) dealer I'll ask what I need to do to get the code from them. I think I may have located the previous owner as well. They may be able to provide me information as well. I can only hope.

You can also try one more thing. Try looking around all the 4 doors and hatch. you are looking for a 5 digit number. Some people have found the sticker in the weirdest places!!! heck pop the hood look around there too! Sometimes it`s above or below the VIN. Worth a try!

Have you opened to glove box and looked on the sides for a white sticker with a 5-digit code?
