I think I punched in the code for another car. I did this twice and got two error codes. I'm guessing that if I get a third error code, the system will lock me out and I will have to get a dealer to open it. Correct?

Also: Is the radio code a five digit number?

 

The radio code is a 5 digit number, you are allowed up to 5 or 6 attempts on some models. After exceeding that count limit, the radio will lock you out for about an hour until you can attempt to unlock it again.

With the radio powered OFF... if you have the radio code sticker with the radio's serial number listed on it, press and HOLD the numbers 1 and 6 along with pressing the power button simultaneously. This way you can double check to make sure that you have the correct code for that radio.

I located the correct code and entered it without any problems.

Question:

If this works, then whats the point of having a "secure" system? Or have I misunderstood you?

Here is how I got my code.
Radio Off
Press 1+6 and the power button at the same time. This will give you the SN of the radio. (write that down.)
Then push 6, then 5, then 2. This is a temporary fix.
