Oh, and I figure you guys can get first dibs:

I bought 25 blue smd leds to replace the green ones in the cruise control buttons (I bought this as an add-on to my base so I can use them to control my pc) and on the driver side window controls. They were only 40 cents each but shipping was 6 bucks, so if you guys are interested, I can mail any extras to you for 41 cents shipping. They should drop right is as geen and blue leds have similar voltage drops. I'll get pics of it after. I should have 15 left over.

Well I got my core 2 duo - only to find that my mobo is crazy enough to be socket p (!!) and not socket m...if I get my camera back today I'll take some pictures of the setup outside the car (it got lonely having no radio).

So it looks like things are on hold for at least another week

I found this link regarding small amplifiers. I'm thinking of buying this amp and putting it in the dash with the PC. I'd get the 12V low profile version.

wow great find...this definitely would be cool and fit in any extra room behind/above the wrx kit (if it doesn't fit inside) since the space is so big in there. I like the low-profile option...I think I've been sold. My other idea was to get two 2-ch amps and stack them on top of one another above the gas peadel. a 4-ch just wouldn't make it.

Hope to get my proc this week and the install should be happening shortly, provided I can find time to get a nlite install of xp mce going. I'm chucking it on a 4gb 300x lexar CF drive, so hopefully I get some bitching fast bootups. I'm not too concerned about write cycles as I figure by the time it dies, CF cards will be huger and cheaper anyway.

Does anyone know where I can get a motorola female to f-male adaptor? I need to get the honda antenna into my fm tuner and I'd rather not splice wires...searches give me nothing

Hmm, looking at the Tripath TAA4100A spec sheet, it's power kinda blows running of 14.4V compared to 25V (20W low-noise to 50W low-noise for 4ohm).

I may get a step-up DC-DC converter should I ever upgrade the stock speakers. I just found something like this, which you can even adjust the output to 30V if you wanted to get closer to maxing out the amp:
Zahn Electronics, Inc. Products - DCDC12/24/160 step up DC/DC converters

I ordered one today. Reading the forums there you can clip off some of the board, eliminating the rectifier and two of the caps, then use a smaller filtering cap.

There's plenty of room in the fit dash, but this would make it nice as it may fit in the wrx chassis as well for portability.

What are you doing for power to the amp? Are you going to use the same supply as the PC, or have a separate conditioner? In my case, I may have a hard drive (not a flash drive), and I'm wondering if noise will be introduced whenever the drive spins up.

There's not way I got get the wattage I want out of the ps, plus the tripath chip on that amp is very robust. The existing caps and rectifier are used for AC, which you can see labeled on the board - this thing will definitely have no problem coming right off teh car battery. To get more wattage once I get new drivers, I'll probably but that step-up buck I linked to. I'll also probably get anotehr amp kit from 41hz for my sub when that goes in.
