Double DIN Installation?

Double DIN Installation?
Hey all! I've been lurking the forums for a while because I'm planning on doing up my audio system and I was wondering if a Scosche or Metra kit are the only options for a Double DIN? I know I've seen it proposed on here to use the OEM Navigation dash but I haven't been able to scrounge up any more information that a simple "use the navi kit, it's better". I know those kits have slight fitment problems even after all the various fixes and I'm sure getting a Navigation dash from the dealer wouldn't be too difficult, plus I'm sure it would fit perfectly...
Anyone have any info?

Go to Honda Accessories & Maintenance Parts: Genuine OEM Honda Accessories search your VIN and find the "Panel Assy., Center" for the navigation option, you will also need the bracket (should be right under the Panel assy in the product list) this is of course if you want the best!

This works for the GE but the GD wasn't available in the states with the Nav option. Someone on here (or maybe one of the other sites I get on) had a European car with RHD that was offered with Nav and used the OEM piece but the USDM was not offered with one from the factory.

I'm in the middle of a double DIN install right now on our 2013 Fit Sport. I ordered the head unit from Crutchfield and the Metra kit that came with it looks OK, but the color doesn't match the "dark gun metallic" of the 2013 Sport interior.
I had to order the OEM Navigation kit, brackets, and a Honda Pilot Metra kit. Apparently, the OEM Navi is larger than double DIN, so you need the Pilot kit to fill in the gap left in the OEM Navi opening.
I think it was around $68 all together for those parts. You'll save big bucks on the OEM parts online from the discount parts houses, unless your dealer gives you a parts discount - mine seems to charge more than list most of the time!

Since navi wasn't an option on early US Fits, I wanted to replace the stock head unit on my GD3 with a double DIN aftermarket navi (Pioneer U-310BT). Wound up going with the Metra kit. I paid $50 three years ago.
Overall it's OK, but two caveats: 1. Color doesn't perfectly match the dash, although it's fairly close. You'd have to be looking pretty hard to notice. 2. Upper right corner on the Metra kit is the toughest part to get right; the kit trim tends to stick out just a wee bit. It's not perfect but it's close enough for me.
