What does the law say? You will not notice a difference between 25 and 20%....

That post is Wikipedia worthy. Nice job! I was looking for a price answer and got much more.

My main concerns in order
1. Heat
2. Looks
3. Privacy (don't care even) ... What do you suggest?

As mentioned before the police in your area will really have a great impact on what you can get away with, but personally I prefer 20% on the Fit. It is just right not too light but not blacked out.

Tint

So 20% tint for aesthetics
... For keeping heat out, of the various tint-types you listed (metallic, ceramic, etc) what do you recommend in the $200 and under?

In Arkansas you should be able to get a metallic film for less than $200. If you were in LA or another saturated city you could get ceramic for that price. But there isn't much competition in AR. Metallic will give you a lifetime warranty and great heat rejection.

Your tint looks great. What brand, type, etc. It looks silvery like your paint.

I paid 329.00. From a smaller place in Plain City, Ohio. just inbetween Dublin and Marysville.

Only the sides and rear, no tint on the windshield.

I've always tinted my cars windows, for heat reduction, looks and to keep the brightness down inside the car. The Irish in me doesn't get along with the sun very well.

These windows are soooo big, it's like a greenhouse.

$400 tint quotes chicago suburbs

Can anybody tell me why im being quoted 300 to 400 dollars to tint my fit? I live in the Chicago suburbs. What is the deal with high prices in this area? I cant find prices even close to what people list on here.

Must be the suburbs, maybe it's the most expensive tint they are trying to sell you?
The lowest here in LA for the entire car is about 100$, 150 is average. 200+ is on the high end.

400 is ridiculous.

I too have thought about this. 3M makes a damage-resistant film that I use on my glass doors at home in case anyone tries to break them to get in. I decided against it for the car though because let's say I get in a wreck and am knocked unconscious and my car catches on fire with the doors locked. No one will be able to break the window(s) to get me out.

I could tell it was tinted even before reading that it was. It is really noticable. Especially with the front windows down.

Laws in Arizona have since changed from the original post's date. Front windshield remains a no no to tint, though you are allowed to put a banner at the top. It can go down past the AS1 line. Front windows are 33% +/-3% (to account for margin of error for tint meters since those cannot be recalibrated). B-pillar back can be as dark as you like.

I just got my Honda Fit rear windows tinted today. For the small rear quarter windows, I see the outline of the tint. Should this be normal? Thanks in Advanced.

Mine came with the back and rear side windows tinted. I have no idea why as my car didn't have any other extras - not even mats.

I like it though. Never had tint on any car before, but I like that it is harder to see inside the rear area.

I don't know, after reading about the skin cancer on left arms, maybe I will get the front sides tinted too. There is a tint place right next to my martial arts school. I could easily set up an appointment while I am working out and have it be no inconvenience.

I have no idea how deep the tint is that came with my car.

Just bought a new Fit and need to get the windows tinted. Need some advice from the tinting experts:

1. I'm in CA so I pretty much can't touch the two front windows. The dealer says that the stock windows are already around 70-75% which is the legal limit in CA and has some UV protection. That said, did anyone end up putting a clear 99% UV protection on the front windows? If yes, what brand? Or is it ok to just leave it as is?

2. For the rear windows I'm going to put a 3M tint film. Does anyone have an opinion on crystalline vs. color stable? Crystalline is super expensive. For the rear windows the quote was over $500. I practically choked on my own saliva
