Well I got the new headunit in

Pretty straightforward, just getting the original one out is kinda pain. THose clips are certainly in there tight. Didn't have any flying clips so that was kinda cool. Only thing that sucks now is the Scosche panel didnt clip in all the way in the upper right corner. Not sure why, dont think anything is in the way behind the radio, must be something with one of the clips. So when I find time gotta yank it back out and see whats up. Also had plenty of room behind the glove box to stash all my XM hardware. I'll take some pics and post em up when I get back in there to fix the clip issue.

Also got the alarm/remote start installed and windows tinted today. Now when I get my wheels next week sometime I'll be all done with mods for a while! All this with 200 miles on the clock haha.

Alpine CDA-9887. I had it in my Durango before I traded that in. Sound is a little better than stock, its just the speakers holding back the real good sound now. I had it hooked to Infinity Reference components in the truck, and it sounded really good, so I may look into getting some of those again.

I feel you on the panel. I have the Metra panel and it won't clip in the whole way in the upper right corner. I might just live with it as I really don't want to fight with taking it all back out.

Well I fixed it. Turns out must just me the clips that came on the Scosche panel suck, cause I swapped the oem clips on the right side and it went right in.

New tint pics as well, 20% all around

I noticed that in your second picture of the scosche that the upper right of the kit is not flush.

That might just be a little glare. Initially it was far from flush, but its pretty good right now. Maybe I can try and take a pic from the pass seat.

Fantastic job! I had pretty much decided to just stick with the stock headunit because I didn't like the look of any of the other pictures I've seen (HU recessed too much, poor panel fit, etc.) but yours makes me reconsider. Also, I'm extremely happy to hear that the XM goodies will fit behind the glove box. I had them under the passenger seat in my civic... hadn't measured yet but was pretty sure that was no longer an option.

Can't tell for certain... did you run the antenna out the hatch?

Also, I guess the concensus is that the Scosche kit works out better than the Metra?

Unrelated question, but I'll throw it in here anyway. 15 years ago, when I was doing listening tests for speakers, MB Quart blew everything else away, so I've been listening to MB Quart component speakers ever since. Now I gotta replace the stock speakers in the Fit, but I'm hearing that Quart has been bought several times, gone down in quality, etc., and that I should go with BA's, Infinity's, or Focals. Opinions?

Antenna runs along the rubber weatherstripping along the drivers side and out the hatch, took all of 5 minutes to install it. Its sitting on top of the spoiler. Look at my first exterior pic, look just to the rear of the regular antenna and you will see a little black bump, thats it.

Inside the glove box, I have the XM Direct tuner on the far right side, back up next to the cars computer. THe digital adapter for Alpine is on the far left back side, kinda where all the variosu cables are for the blend door and hot/cold lever. Can take pics if you like tomorrow.

I also am thinking about replacing the speakers. I had this head unit hooked to Infinity Reference components in my Durango, and the sound was a lot better than the stock speakers.
