Sound Processor for Stock Radio
Sound Processor for Stock Radio
Ok guys, I've decided to start a new thread. I'm about ready to order the hardware and begin my upgrade to achieve acceptable sound from the radio in my 2015 Fit EXL. Yes I know I've created several threads here, but it gets confusing. I'm pretty much set on the following gear to go with my Rockford Fosgate self installed R165X3 speakers in all 4 doors. I will installing the foam baffles as well.
The Kenwood Powered Sub, because I'd rather just do it now, than want it later.
The Alpine Power Pack Amp, linked here with wiring kit and baffles

After much research, I've decided that a self install is just going to be too much for me on my own. I will going to the local installer later today, to discuss me supplying the hardware, and paying them to install. I will also be open to hardware suggestions provided by them. As I stated in another thread, they are about a week out in scheduling. I have off from work on Weds and Thurs, so I might be waiting 2 weeks to get it done.
The last piece of this puzzle is a sound processor. I called the installer earlier this week and was made aware of these units. I did a little digging and found that I may indeed want to include one in my upgrade project. I feel strongly that the radio is putting out a really crappy sound, and that as I increase the volume things really deteriorate. I'm hearing mostly midrange, and a very thin sound. When I bump the bass all the way up, it's not that noticeable, and seems rot be overshadowed by the midrange. Adjusting the treble does very little to change things in a positive way. So I'm thinking that a processor out of the radio and before the amp, might be just what I need. Could I go with the amp and sub to start? Yes. Do I want to risk disappointment after waiting and spending on the install? Hell no! So I'm asking for input on a processor that will be reasonable priced for my non audiophile ears. Do I need one? What kind of adjustments will I be able to make to the EQ curve? Will any be available on the fly? Will I still be able to use the volume control on the radio? This is big, as I use the steering wheel controls for volume as much as I breathe LOL. If I have to reach for a remote to adjust volume, I'm almost ready to replace the head unit, almost. Sound processor. Please discuss, and remember that I'm not an audiophile. TIA
EDIT: I will not be getting a processor and would like to delete this thread, but can't see how to do that.
