Speaker install question...

For those of you that have replaced the stock speakers in the Fit, are they like the other Honda's and have a plastic connector? In other words, will I need some of these?

Parts Express:Metra 72-7800 Honda/Acura Speaker Harness Pair

Just checking.

*BUMP*

ok so am I gonna need these harnesses to replace the speakers or not?

I'm sure I could do it without, but I'd like to keep the install as clean as possible and avoid crimping/soldering if I can.

I just hacked up my wiring. I kept the stock connectors though and have then with the stock speakers to hook back up if the day ever comes that I get rid of the Fit. More than likely that wont happen and all this crap will just be taking up space in my garage!

I ended up finding the harnesses for a little cheaper and don't plan on doing the install till I go on my vacation, so I can wait for them....I guess lol

the problem with those harnesses is that they are end up in the bottom of the door panel along with all the water when it rains. Which then corrods them and can lead to issues later on down the road. Generally just cut off the factory connectors, leaving about an inch of wire to reconnect when you go back to stock, and ust crimp on the appropriate sized connectors.

Don't ever just wrap the wire around the spaker lead.

I noticed too that a good amount of moisture must get into the doors, since parts of mine are already starting to rust, as well as parts of the baskets on the speakers. Have never had that on any other vehicle i've owned.

Must be your first honda . When I install in all the new hondas that use that silly speaker the fit uses. I always build little "rain hats" for the speakers using some Dynamat. Pretty much every install or uninstall I do on a honda more than 3 years old the inside bottom of the doors is starting to form some rust spots. It's just hot they are I guess.

Good thing it doesn't rain here in AZ. What size speakers do you buy? 6 inch or 6.5 inch? I want to upgrade my speakers...

I have 17cm (euro sized) equivalent of 6 3/4" .. 6.5" is the correct size for the fit.
