Base key on sport?

I'm looking to use the base key without the electronic lock buttons on my sport. Does anyone know if this is possible? I was told by one of my local honda parts guys that it wouldn't.

not sure if the base key has the immobilizer chip in it though.....

i think it will be inconvenient as well....because whenever you have to open the right side doors or the hatch, you will have to walk over to the driver's side and use that keyhole....

I am getting a viper alarm system installed next week, so I will be able to unlock the doors with that. I don't like more things in my pockets then necessary.
