Will non-remote key work for 2007 Fit Sport?

Hello! I just bought a 2007 Honda Fit Sport, and I love it . However, it only came with one key, and the top part of the key is broken off. I know I should get some spares made up sooner rather than later. My plans are to purchase 1 remote key and 1 non-remote key online, and have them programmed in at the dealership for a total of 3 keys to my Fit. Would a non-remote key (such as one that works for the Fit Base) work with the Fit Sport ?

Now you've got me wondering if the opposite would work - if I could use a Sport key (with keyless entry buttons) on my base. To the search bar!

No you can't. You need the keyless attachment. $200 at honda. Canada Honda still sells it.

To the OP's question, yes, you can use Fit base keys (no auto-door openers) on the Fit Sport. You can also get cheap replacement smart keys (just missing the smart electronic guts) for your broken "smart" key; the electronic guts get transferred over, the new key is cut, and it will work. My 07 Fit sport was the same way; one smart key with it. We got three of the $10 dumb keys, paid the dealer the $80 or so to key any number of keys, and we were all set. The dealer wanted like $55 a key for the dumb keys and $200 for the smart ones in addition to the $80 keying fee in order for them to provide the keys, so it makes sense to get your own keys on ebay or wherever. The dealer may warn you that Ebay keys won't work, but they will.

Thanks! I had to get some registration paperwork from the dealership for my Fit today, and they told me yes, too, that they can make "valet" keys that will turn on the car for $20 per key with a $65 programming charge (they want $70 per remote key, though, so I think I will end up getting 2 smart keys off of eBay or something).

(For anyone looking at this later on, price quotes are coming from the humble state of Pennsylvania....)
