Fit Sport Key!!

so i have a sad story. the toilets at my work are water sucking machines. unfortunately, while one was flushing, my key fell out of my pocker (wtf!), fell into the toilet, and was sucked down into the abyss. i know that i have one more key, but i was wondering if anyone happened to know the price or those and where might be a good place to get one. i have the sport model so the key is one of the "bloop bloop" ones for remote entry.

On a related note, does anyone know how much the key without the remote on it costs?

I'm going to be installing a compustar so the stock keyless entry would be useless...so I don't want to have to lug such a big key around if I don't have to.

when you bought the car, it shouldve came with a small piece of plastic with barcoding. you need bring that barcode to the dealer and have them make you another copy.

only honda dealers are authorized to make you a key.

I purchased two extra keys with my Sport. One with remote ($100) and one without ($90) cut and programmed. You need to bring all keys with you when your replacements are programmed. Good luck.

My local locksmith said he could make a key (no remote) for $65 while the dealership said $100 (also remoteless). I'm guessing the remote would add another $50?

Your local locksmith can program the key too?

My sad story (with a moderately happy ending)

By the time I got home with my new Fit Sport I also had lost one of the keys. I'm not sure where it went, but I think it got dumped along with the some of the stuff I pulled out of the glove compartment of my '95 Accord trade-in.

My dealer sold me the blank key for $68 including tax. I went to the service department to have it programmed and the manager had pity on me and did it for free.

BTW, I'm not a cute 20-something girl, I'm an ugly 50-something guy.

So the key is just a key, with the remote on a fob? Not like the VW/Audi keys where the key flips out of the remote?

Last Honda I had was a key and separate fob arrangement.

Aside, what I'd REALLY like to see is a Smartkey, like Nissan is offering as an option in the Versa.

The key and remote are one, but there is no flipping mechanism.

cost about 100-120+tax for the key with remote, get it cut, and program it at the dealership.

OUCH!

I did that many many years ago in a public toilet with the ONLY ignition key I had for a 1971 Citroen DS. Those cars had a recessed ignition switch in the dash and a LONG key to prevent theft...Amazingly, it and another key on the ring lodged themselves back-to-back in the opening.... I did not think twice, I reached down and got them mid-flush.....washed that hand for a week afterwards.

As pointed out, my dealer warned me that these keys are not cheap to replace, and getting new ones is via Honda.
