civic key

I need a spare key for my wallet. The ones without remotes are @ $40-$50 in my area (Richmond Va), plus $100 labor for programing the immobilizer. Can a late model Civic key be made to work in a Fit, they cost @ $20.

with it not having the chip that means its only good for getting in right? So do you just keep the other hidden in the car so you can start it if necessary?

Guess that makes sense, do you have a base or sport? Only reson I ask is because I dont think I've ever locked my sport without using the lock button right on the key. If i'm around the house or at work(always within a hundred feet of my car) I just leave the key in the ignition and as far as I know the drivers door wont lock if you were to hit the switch and then shut the door. Seems like it would be hard to get locked out of a sport model. But then again, if it can go wrong it will go wrong, lol

Have a Sport and yes it is hard to lock your key inside, but i've done dumber things when i get in a rush. Have a spare house key under there as well.
