Great news! So how do you like it? I find it to be pretty stiff, but fun anyway. I'm used to the modified shifter on the STi, and compared to that even the Fit short-short shifter is like butter, lol.

I take it that spacers + longer bolts did not give you any clearance problems on the top end, with the console or anything else?

NO I didn't but the wires on the right side couldn't be hidden with the console, I just stuck it under the carpet and you can't tell!

Any reason why this would not work with an H-Fit and T1R combo? T1R is alot cheaper than Mugen.

No reason it shouldn't be possible; clearance issues might arise but there are several fixes in this thread for that.

I've actually been thinking about that combination myself lately. I cut an inch off the CircuitHero extender and I still wish it was just a bit lower. Plus the extender exaggerates the angle of the lever, and moves everything pretty far rearward. I was wondering whether the T1R lever + H-Fit kit would finally put the shift knob right where I want it with the JDM console.

I'm also thinking about a weighted knob. A buddy of mine put his Spoon knob on my lever (minus the CircuitHero extender) and it made for some pretty darn sweet feeling shifts. But the Spoon is metal, which means you can't actually touch it for about 6 months out of the year . There's a guy in the STi forums who makes custom, weighted copolymer knobs; they're a bit pricey at $65+ but oh so nice. If I feel stupid rich I might order one.

Funny you should bring this back from the dead.

I bought the H-Fit piece with anticipation of getting the T1R but I got a little distracted... It's summer and I've resurrected my DSM and that is getting most of my attention for now. So for now I'm only using the H-Fit extension.

Through some more research I've found out that the T1R piece has a ball with a larger diameter than stock, so the H-Fit extension needs to be bored out a little bit. No problem with a vise and a drill bit or maybe even a small grinding attachment on a dremel.

The only problem I foresee: If the H-Fit does not have enough clearance on the bottom of the T1R, it might not be possible to raise the entire assembly via washers/spacers because the plastic trim which covers it becomes the limiting factor.

Can someone confirm that the Mugen Short Shifter from the 2009 Mugen Package will work with the GDs?

You all are the lucky guineapigs. I'm trying out Picasa for image hosting and finally got around to fixing the image links in the first post. I don't seem to have kept pics of the extender - maybe I'll take some more and fix that post too.

Hi, sorry about the slow reply - I don't visit here as often as I used to. I'm not near Atlanta. "The perimeter" describes my location relative the the east coast megalopolis, plus it's a reference to a Doors song.

Back from the semi-dead. The insurance adjuster just left, and my Fit has been declared a total loss after having suffered severe hailstorm damage.

My short shifter setup in these pictures is now for sale.

I'll be putting an ad together for this and the other bits (Beatrush underpanel, center console, wheels) soon. The shifter + console is a great combination because I essentially set the shifter height to be exactly where I wanted it with the console.
