sorry ive been putting off weighing the car guys. but ive got the next two days off of work so hopefully when i wake up today i can rip out the headliner and all the other little bits and pieces from the interior that i dont want and can get it weighed. i will definitely post up the weight as soon as i do.

i totally see where you are coming from. it is a bit drastic to do this to a daily driver. but i really do kind of track my car daily i have a hard 20 mile canyon run to work every day. i wont go into detail about how hard i run it, but since i got the car in JAN of 08 and i have gone through six sets of tires every time i go to the dealer to get it serviced and they check my tread life they just shake their heads because they know it is a completely new set of tires from the last time i was there.

It wasn't a track STi; last time I checked, the guy was daily driving the car. He was also trying to keep it as stock-looking and daily-driveable as possible, so he was not doing things like gutting the interior. He still managed to pull a lot of weight out of the car!

Hey guys, I don't think anybody has posted weight figures yet, so I hope this will give you guys a ballpark figure as to where your car might stand. Of course this is approximate, but I think it would be nice to see how much a big portion of the stuff you took off weighed!

Here is the weight reduction I achieved on my car:

*Removed & weighed several rear interior components, including:

-rear wiper assembly - 2.3
-rear child seat tether covers - 0.1
-rear spare tire cover - 6.2
-rear seat strikers - 1.1
-rear seatbelt assemblies (left, right, middle) - 9.5
-rear seatbelt buckles - 1.3
-rear left & right seat w/ bolts - 64.6
-spare tire & jack - 24.3
-Spoon axleback weight savings - 3.5 [stock 10.5 minus Spoon 7.0]
-Recaro SPG + Nagisa Auto weight savings - 20.5 [stock 43.5 minus bucket & slider 23]
-Braille B14115 weight savings - 9.5 [stock~21 minus Braille 11.5]

Total: 142.9 lbs

Theoretically, since last time I weighed my car it was 2550 with me, 1/4 tank, no spare and jack, 9.5 lb Enkei RPF1 w/ Falken Azenis...
2550
- 150 (me)
- 118.6 (since spare & jack already counted)
-----------
2281.4 (about?)

____________

Now of course you have more panels/liners that you removed but I hope this gives you an idea of the great amount of weight you saved! Good luck and looking forward to see the actual weight of your car.

Here are some additional weights of trim that I did not remove from my car, but weighed out of curiosity:

rear left lower panel - 3.4
rear right lower panel - 3.0
rear hatch panel - 1.0

Hope this helps man.

the 2 bottom back ones Left Side and Right Side.
they cover the strut tower and hide the rear seat belts.

no matter what you do, it's still going to be an automatic.

Pretty crazy yet interesting idea and thumbs up for trying that. It's still a pitty because I think that the Fit kinda weighs too much for a great performance especially when you're driving an AT.

Anyway, keep it up and thanks for posting all the information!

i'd hope for more than a couple hundred lbs dropped...otherwise i just think of it as having a passenger or not having one....

if it's for track and sport use only then it's always worth it. but i wouldn't guy my only daily driver. if i did this to either of my fits...it'd be the 07 base manual, not my 08 sport m/t

Just took the rear seats out myself tonight. No intention to completely strip it, but the seats gone does make a noticeable difference in drivability and it still keeps the car looking clean and pretty much like it came that way. And it's FREE too. Curious to see how it affects it for autox next month.

Hey Arick i wouldn't get the CF hood. It only saves about 10lbs over the stock hood. If you did anything i would just take the fire material off of the stock hood. Since it won't be on the CF anyway. that would save about 10-20lbs by itself

If he eventually gets a k20, it would be awesome. Don't bag on it cuz it's auto. What he's doing is cool.

Remove the A/C
Add Enkei RPF1s

That's all I can think of for now
