make sure you update to the latest firmware, this thing had some nasty bugs with the older firmware.

I have this unit. It does a lot and has great sound quality, but the software is incredibly buggy and it can really piss you off.

I suggest you join this site:

AVIC411.com

There are lots of good hints, hacks and information about it.

I don't have one, but in reading the avic411 forum, I saw that a few people had that complaint. It didn't seem to be a common thing, but was not unheard of. I don't know if that's an installation issue (need noise isolation on the 12v lead?), some other installation factor, or perhaps a few defective units. I"ve been looking hard at the F90 also, so I've been trying to follow relevant discussions there.

I had a problem similar to that but it was my ipod nano that was the problem and had to reformat it.

Unhappy This unit is too buggy for me!

I've finally given up on it, and yes I have firmware 2.0.

Among other things, this thing
  • Loses track of last song playing during an incoming call
  • After a call, when reverting to the map display will zoom all the way out to a view of the entire earth (real f***ing useful. Am I in a spaceship?)
  • Ipod cable has no right channel sound anymore
  • No longer recognizes Ipod commands
  • Bad radio reception
  • Still incredibly slow startup and key response
  • Sometimes reverts to main menu during startup
This product should never have been released the way it is and I can't believe so many people tolerate it and try to live with it.

*end rant*
