Around 69mm with the biggest spacers that will fit. Any deeper and you can't get the door trim back on.

I was told that the interior space in the NA Fit's doors is different because of the side impact reinforcments - would that effect speaker space too?

I'll be really sad if my Utopia Be No.7's don't fit cuz of the depth.

I don't know how your USDM Jazz speakers are mounted but our European ones are clipped in with a giant metal spring clip. Once removed, it reveals a upside down teardrop shaped cut out in the metal panel that clear the stock magnet.

Problem we had with our install was not so much the depth of the speaker but the width of the basket/magnet behind the speaker. Our original replacement speakers just would not fit without huge amounts of cutting to the metal to make a normal 'round' hole to clear the magnet.

In the end, we had the use a less expensive speaker just to make cutting to a minimal. Note, 'cutting to a minimal' we still had to cut it and bend it slightly! We are taking pics of the build as we go along and will post up the full build pics when we are done, sometime next week.

As to front side clearance, you can get about a 1" spacer on the speaker but you may need to trim the inside of the door panel where the speaker perforations are, as there is a ridge around it, that will give you another 1/6-1/4" more clearance.

Al.

Here is a pic of the mids from my component set, they are spec'd at 68mm mounting depth. And yes I had to use a trim ring to get it so there was no window smacking.
