Front tweeter and speaker replacement ?...

Hello i have the 09 sport fit... i want to replace the stock tweeter and front speakers with a S60 boston acoustic set...

My question is, does the car already have a built in crossover installed so i just switch the speakers and tweeters themselves and wire or do i use the crossover that came with the new set? I dont have a n aftermarket HU...

If i do need to use the BA crossoer do i just wire like normal or wire into X-over and then to speaker?

Any help would be great on this..

Factory tweeter usually have a capacitor on it to fliter out the low.
For your new Boston component run the factory speaker wires into the input of the x-over and then run wires out to the BA components.
If you're not replacing the hu then you won't gain much by swapping the speakers.

Thanks for the replys... This car is my wifes and she isnt a big bass head like myself. We ordered a Fusion Reactor Amp and a 12" Fusion sub ported out...That should more than enough for her. We are mostly interested in getting the highs to be as close to equal as possible to the lows coming from the cargo. So i thought the Bostons would be fine compliment for her sound. Could I possibly just combine the 2 channels?...run wire from the amp to the 2 X-overs? while running the sub? so basically putting the 3 positives into the am and the 3 negatives? or will i blow up the speakers and or amp??? or should just not even try... My system on the other hand stupd loud. JL Audio 12"W6 custom made ported box, JL: E400 4channel running 2 sets of Boston Acoustic 6.5 Front and Custom to door panels in Back. JL 2 channel (forgot model) and a 2.0 Farad Cap in between the 2 Amps built into the amp rack.... Jensen VM9512 7" flip out dvd screen with back up camera and 80gb ipod....Friggin really loud...Take Care

You will notice the difference right away with the new speaker setup. Depending on how efficient the Boston Accoustics are, you may need/want more than deck power. You're doing it right by going speakers first. Not everybody has an upgraded stereo as their first priority. Your next decision wil be tougher, though, if you're not satisfied with just a speaker upgrade. You can stick with the OEM deck and integrate amps to it, or go with an aftermarket deck.

Going aftermarket deck would be the best way to go if you want all the added features and optimal sound. Most people are happy with the OEM deck and like to keep the stock look. Nothing wrong with that.

Again, roll with the new speakers for now and see if it meets your needs.
I disagree, changing the headunit/source is always the first option to getting better sound quality
upgrading the stereo is the best choice, but if you want to keep the stock/oem look than i understand

A person on a budget is not going to get a head unit plus a set of speakers. Believe it or not, a lot of people are satisfied with just upgrading the speakers. I've been to the IASCA finals as a contestant and I used to judge at sanctioned events. I know what good sounding systems require, but at the same time, I know what the average Joe wants or can justify spending their hard earned money on. And upgraded speakers is the best bang for the buck. If the speakers aren't doing it for them, then upgrade the head unit or add amps.

Anyway, I'm not here to argue. Everyone has their opinions.

Also, if someone is going to upgrade their head unit, they better get one that is an upgrade. Aftermarket decks these days are junk, too.
the headunit is total crap! i just swapped my stock headunit out for an eclipse cd5030. its honestly like night and day. no cracking at all, no distortion at all from the stock speakers. if you have a crappy source, you have a crappy sound. no matter how good ur speakers are.

i also noticed some1 say something about component speakers. if you go that route, you NEED an extenal amp to power them. or they will sound like poo. and in that case, you wouldnt need to upgrade your headunit, because the source would be the amp.

Say what you want. I don't think the head unit in my 2009 Fit is junk. Besides, not everyone is into cranking up the sound system in their car and set off alarms as they drive by the neighbourhood.

Of course the Eclipse CD5030 is going to give you better sound than the OEM deck, but that wasn't the point of what I've been saying. Anyway..............

Base7devil7 if you've a 4 channels amp then you can use 2 channels for the components and bridged the other 2 for the sub.
If you've a 2 channels then you can bridged that for the sub or power the components.
If you are trying to power the sub and components from a 2 channel you're better off getting a second amp.

i never said the oem headunit was a piece of junk
but you will clearly hear a big improvement if you switch to an aftermarket deck.....even if you do get a cheaper lower end model..it will stll be a big improvement.....

if you want to talk about prices. speakers and deck replacement is about the same price honestly....MSRP to MSRP
low end speaker to low end deck
and if you were to get a high end speakers..it is totally pointless becuase high end speakers will need more power anyways

bur like you said...everyone has their own opinion =)

Eclipse CD5030. Wow, impressive.
5 volts out with really low output impedance puts other decks to shame.

Own a 2007 Fit, wondering if you have and specific/general suggestions for front speaker upgrades? Don't neccesarily want something expen$$sive - would consider upgrading the HU - once again reasonably priced.

Thanx - biki

actually, if the headunit is still junk, if u get an amp, you're just amplifying that signal into a more powerful junk signal...

but source is best, buy if he wants to only swap the speakers, it'll still be an improvement over the stock ones.
